Pleasure Unbound (Demonica Series Book 1)

Pleasure Unbound By Larissa Ione

Back Cover Synopsis:

Tayla Mancuso is a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure--but fears it will always be denied her.  Until she lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire.  But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.

Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion.  Not only is she his avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people.  Torn between his need for the truth and his quest to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable--and let Tayla possess him, body and soul. . .

This is the second time that I have read this book and tried to write the review on it and it has nothing to do with the book as to why I have been unable to do so.  Life, unfortunately has gotten in the way and I am just now starting to straighten things out to the point where I can start doing what I love and that is reading my books and writing about them.  So with out further ado, here is my review. . .

Eidolon has worked his whole mature life creating something that can help demon kind.  Underworld General Hospital is a place where any demon can go and get help.  Eidolon has poured everything into making the hospital the place of his dream, but all of that is about to change when the worlds most unlikely patient is brought through the ER.

For Tayla, it was just another night in the service to the Aegis demon slayers.  But Tayla has been hiding a very serious secret that got another slayer killed and put her in the hands of her mortal enemies.  Instead of killing her though, they healed her and she can not figure out why.  She also can not figure out why this doctor who saved her life shakes her world so completely that she forgets everything she is and everything he is and gives into her passion.

Eidolon is close to the final stage of his maturity where if he doesn't find a life mate, he will become a sex crazed monster whose only goal in life is to spread his seed.  When Tayla starts to awaken thing in his, he writes it off as the change is effecting him instead of admitting what is really happening between him and a slayer.  Even when she knocks him out and chains him to the bed, he can not be mad.  Hell, he can not keep her out of his mind.  All he wants to do is heal her and bed her. He is fighting everything inside of him to resist her and when he reveals that the reason that she is loosing control of her body is because she is part demon, she kicks him out of her life. Which should be a good thing, right?

Tayla has no clue what is happening to her, between the sudden and more frequent paralysis that is happening to her body and the emotions that are running threw her making her question everything she has ever known.  Demon are evil and that is all there is.  In hopes of regaining her faith and proving that her life has not been for nothing, she turns on Eidolon and agrees to go along with a plan that will lead the slayers right to UGH.  When she is brought back to the secret hospital, she is met with skepticism and understandably so.  While there she learns that everything that she has believed in while serving the Aegis has been a lie.  Not all demons are monster or hurt humans.

When  her own people sent her back into the hospital as a suiside bomber without her knowledge, she changes sides and decideds to save the man and world that saved her.  Little did Tayla know that that decision would cause a ripple effect in her life where more and more secrets that she did not even know exsisted would come to life.  How will she handle all of this: the betrayal of her people, the anger of her new people, a new sister, finding out what demon her father was, her body shutting down, the emotions that a certain demon doctor keeps stiring in her and the questioning of does he feel the same?  Its enough to drive anyone mad!  But at least one thing is certain:

"Listen to me." Gem slammed the book closed with such force that Tayla jumped.  "Eidolon isn't an idiot.  He's one of the most logical, annoyingly intelligent males I've ever met, human or demon.  He isn't so desperate that he'd lock himself into a lifetime of misery with a female who might turn on him or who might be a bad mother to his children.  Yes, his life and his hospital mean everything to him, but he'd rather die than be bound to a female he doesn't love.  He loves you, Tayla."

"I can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice.  We're Soulshredders, sis, which means that we can sense weakness and pain in others.  Eidolon's weakness is you.  But you could also be his strength.  He loves you, even if he hasn't admitted it , even to himself."

Eidolon knows he doesnt have a lot of time left and knows that he can no longer blame the change for how he feels about Tayla.  The only question now is how to make her his while dealing with a threat that could completley shatter everything that he has ever worked for and destroy not only him but the woman that he loves.

This book was a little hard to get into.  The first chapter was filled with medical jargin that I didnt completley understand.  Once I was able to get past that, the book was wonderful.  Every chapter had you guessing on what was going on and the character development of not just the two main characters, but the secondary ones as well, was great and allowed you to get to know the whole world that the story is taking place in.  As far as the romantic story is concerned, it is very much a star crossed lovers story like most paranormal romances are and had me wishing that there was an Eidolon out there in the real world for me.  This was a great book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I can't waiit to read the next in the series.
